Welcome to our homestead blog! My name is Jennifer and my family and I run a small 10-acre homestead in Jefferson City, Missouri. We raise Nigerian Dwarf dairy goats that we milk and have a small flock of chickens for eggs as well. Along with our goats and chickens, we put out multiple garden beds each year. Next to our garden sits a small orchard with apple, pear, cherry, plum, and peach trees. Other fruits we grow include blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, and blackberries, and we have kept our own beehives over the years as well.
Our goal is to be as self-sustainable as possible. This homesteading lifestyle has been more enjoyable than we ever could have imagined when we started this journey over 7 years ago with just a small flock of chickens.
At the center of our property sits a small lake nestled among rows of red cedar trees. Since our property truly is a haven for us, the name Cedar Lake Haven was born.
Along with our farming adventures, I enjoy cooking traditional foods and making cold-processed soap from our goat milk. I also enjoy canning many of the vegetables and fruits we grow each year.
Thank you for stopping by!
